yes I have done that - brightness at 27 and contrast at 61. But it's the wrong colours that concern me most - the reds in particular are so saturated, despite Spyder 3 elite calibration. One thing I noticed is that there is no Kelvin setting for 6500k which is what i need for photoediting -do any of the presets match that setting? or how do I get that?
Ok, sounds exactly like I'm looking for. Currently I have 6 years old Samsung 960BF+940BF, and I tried various calibration programs, playing with settings in drivers and the OSD brightness/contrast/color. Nothing of this have made me able to keep a low light white color but keep the ability to see things in dark scenes in games/movies. When I get to a comfortable white color brightness, everything else becomes dark. Any recommendation other than this monitor to achieve what I'm talking about?

i just bought that monitor, having read all the good reviews for colour accuracy and photoediting work. But the colours despite calibration seem to be all wrong in particular the reds which are totally off the mark and way oversaturated. This is alsothefirst monitor ever giving me eye strain. Any idea how to fix it and set the colours right?

I'm havin trouble with DELL on this monitor, when i got the monitor (01/07/2011) it came with some kind of gray spots that would take up to 6 pixels near the logo of DELL (they were not dead pixels), i thought i should get a replacement and they are sending me Refurbished stuff, I'm on my third one and each of them come worse than the other. So my advice is to get this monitor if u wanna try your luck.

looks like the lg IPS231P 23IN it is going for $189.99 at ncix.com with a 5MS DELAY and it has a contrast ration of 5000000 to 1
which model of Dell can you have the laptop connected to it via a USB port (to see on a large screen) .

@Gigastealth Forget the reviews or everyone says this monitor isn't worth it. If your budget is same your from Mumbai go to Prime ABGB & buy a BenQ EW2430V monitor its a VA panel It produces much better blacks than this monitor & doesn't cause eye strain either, using EW2430V for past 4 days & have 0 complaints. Costs same as this Dell U2311H
